Reading Schoolhouse

This month we held our annual Reading Schoolhouse at SIS Zurich-Wollishofen. Students from Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6 take part in the activity. A team of teachers organises the event with activities for the whole school, activities between classes and time for individual classes to delve deeper into the topic of reading. This year, the book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker was the theme of the week. It is a picture book without words, which allowed all grade levels to engage with the story in the way that suited them the best. The week also included activities for the whole school. We had a ‘cosy reading day’ where the students were allowed to bring pillows, cuddly toys and books from home. There was a book swap where the students could exchange books from home for new ones. The highlight of the week was the costume parade, where students came to school dressed as their favourite book character. It was a fun and interesting week, both for the students and the teachers!
