Students and teachers alike had a wonderful day during our annual Sports Day. The energy was contagious as everyone participated in various activities, from long jump to sack races, from relay to football and many more fun activities.

Sports Day is a unique opportunity for students from kindergarten 1 to primary 6 to interact with each other and they demonstrated incredible teamwork. Whether they were racing down the track or building a tower together, they supported one another, with older students looking after the younger ones.

Organized in teams, students rotated through different stations, working on finding the best strategies to earn points for their team. This time we were lucky with the weather - it wasn’t too warm, and thankfully, no rain - making it even more enjoyable for everyone. Thank you to all the teachers for their support, and we look forward to more memorable sports days in the future!

In vielen alten Kulturen wurden übernatürliche Tierwesen verehrt und für ihre grossen und ungewöhnlichen Kräfte bewundert. In der 3. Klasse erfinden wir unsere eigenen mythischen Tiere. Ein Steckbrief hilft uns dabei, Formen, Farben und Eigenschaften zusammenzutragen. Unsere Konstruktion starten wir ganz unscheinbar mit Draht und Zeitungspapier. Darüber formen wir ein Gemisch aus Holzfaser und recyceltem Papier aus dem hauseigenen Büro.

Die ersten Gestalten sind gespenstisch und noch gar nicht so übernatürlich. Erst die Farben, der Schmuck und das königliche Gold lassen sie erstrahlen als Ehrfurcht gebietende Wesen - und auch ganz Süsse!

In der 4. Klasse haben wir über das wundervolle Thema Glück gelernt. In den Stunden haben wir über Glück geredet und viel Neues erfahren. Themen waren: Darin bin ich gut, Glückssätze, Redewendungen und Sprichwörter, Tipps für ein glückliches Leben und die Seligpreisung aus der Bergpredigt. 

Wir haben viele verschiedene Redewendungen angeschaut, die uns glücklich machen. Ein schöner Spruch ist z. B. „Glück ist kein Ziel, sondern eine Reise.“ Weitere Sätze sind: „Ich vertraue mich selbst und glaube an meine Fähigkeiten.“, „Ich bin stark und mein Geist ist ruhig und friedlich.“, „Ich achte auf meine Gedanken.“ 

Tipps für ein glückliches Leben wären: „Behandle andere so wie du selbst behandelt werden willst.“, „Sei zu deinen Feinden nett, auch wenn sie es nicht sind.“ und „Mache nichts, was du nicht machen willst.“ 

Es ist sehr wichtig nett, sorgsam und ehrlich zu sich selbst zu sein. 

Am Ende des Glücksthemas haben alle Schüler ein eigenes Plakat über das Glück entworfen. Es hat sehr viel Spass gemacht, weil wir sehr viel Neues gelernt haben und sind daher sehr dankbar dafür.

The Primary 6 classes read the class novel, The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin in English class. The story is a murder mystery in which a multi-millionaire is murdered, and his last will and testament turns into a game in which players must find his killer. The person to discover the murderer first becomes the beneficiary of all his money. 

Throughout the novel, students played detective by taking copious notes on various characters, with the hope of solving the mystery before anyone else. Right before the ending of the novel, the reading was put on hold, and students were asked to write an argumentative text about who they believed was the novel’s murderer. Using textual evidence as proof, and the learned structure of an argumentative paper, students composed excellent essays that supported their theories. 

Once the papers were complete, the classroom was transformed into a court room. The teacher played the judge's role, the students were persecuting lawyers, and guests were invited to be members of the jury. Students dressed in their finest outfits and presented their argumentative texts in hopes of being the most convincing. The jury then voted on the most persuasive lawyer, and the trial came to an end. 

Students then completed the novel and determined if their theories were indeed correct or not, and the unit drew to a close. The event of turning the class into a court room and holding a live-action trial became a creative way to combine reading, writing, and oral speaking skills all while having a bit of fun.
